Decompres pilates

Compression forces are part of our every day and it is time to do something about it. We are introducing decompress pilates on hammocks with our instructor Vedrana Filipić.

What is decompress pilates?

Decompress pilates in a unique type of exercise that uses special suspension objects – hammocks. Hammocks are great for our joints, as they allow us to move with help of decompression forces. Training with hammocks has its' origins in yoga classes. It was first introduced in the United States, about a decade ago – back then it was known as Aerial yoga. Hammocks allow us to have control over the intensity and difficulty of the exercises – by adopting different dimensions of the hammock (height, width, the position of our body and through changes of inclination). Hammock really is a unique tool – it allows us not only floating positions while doing exercises, but also a safe performance of inversions (turning on your head). Inversions have a decompression effect on our joints, they stimulate our lymphatic system and improve our proprioception.

HEALTH RESTRICTIONS

You are allowed to start after at least one orientation session (after you get familiar with the 5 basic pilates principles of STOTT pilates technique). Due to inversions and rocking in hammocks, decompress is not suitable for clients, who have dizziness problems, inner ear (balance system) problems, sinus infection, acute migraines, epilepsy, high or low blood pressure, problems with eyes, heart or vascular system problems. If you have any of those problems, we advise you to find some other type of pilates classes.

CLOTHING AND HYGIENE RULES

There is a mandatory use of t-shirts with short or long sleeves (sleeves must reach over armpit), due to hygiene reasons. We strongly recommend using tighter pants, that reach beyond your knees – that way there won’t be so much pressure on your knees and doing exercises will be easier. There mustn’t be any zippers on the pants, otherwise sharp edges might damage the fabric of the hammock. You can participate in the class only if you have socks on (the non-sliding kind). We also advise you to remove any jewelry you might have on you and to wash your hands prior the start of the class.

Due to increased interest in the sessions, we politely ask you to book your spot in advance through the Peti element app.
